Top 10 Ayurvedic Hospitals in Kathmandu

Kathmandu Valley has been a center of classical Ayurvedic healing for centuries. Ayurveda is native to the Himalayas, and these specialized hospitals offer classical detoxification (Panchakarma) and natural herbal formulations. These Ayurvedic hospitals use traditional methods for healing and rejuvenation.

Please note: this guide is for information only and is not medical advice. The order below reflects institutional standing and breadth of services, not a medical ranking of quality or outcomes. Ayurvedic treatments affect everyone differently, and some therapies are not suitable for every person or condition, so speak with a qualified Ayurvedic doctor, and your own doctor, before beginning any treatment. We do not publish entry fees, prices or opening hours in this guide because we could not verify them against official sources; confirm them directly with each hospital or centre before visiting.

Overview & Selection Criteria

Kathmandu Valley represents the cultural, academic, commercial, and administrative heart of Nepal, offering diverse facilities for residents and visitors alike. This guide covers the Valley's leading Ayurvedic institutions, from the government hospitals and teaching centres that anchor the public system to private hospitals and specialist Panchakarma centres.

We ranked these institutions by their standing in Nepal's Ayurvedic system, the breadth of their services, and how clearly their history and services are documented by government and official institutional sources. Government institutions come first, followed by the established private hospitals and the best-known Panchakarma centres. Where a centre describes itself as a "first" in Nepal, we say so in its own words, because those are the institution's own claims rather than independent findings.

It offers classical Ayurvedic consultations and treatments, including Panchakarma therapy and herbal formulations, and it is the teaching hospital where Ayurveda Campus students complete clinical rotations. As the oldest and most central public Ayurvedic hospital in the country, it is the natural first stop for anyone seeking government Ayurvedic care in Kathmandu. Local Insights & Practical Advice

When navigating services or planning visits in Kathmandu, keep in mind local traffic patterns, seasonal differences, and official operating hours. We recommend verifying contact details, visiting during off-peak hours where possible, and reviewing community feedback on our dedicated entity profiles.

For Ayurvedic care specifically, always begin with a consultation rather than booking a treatment course in advance, and tell the doctor about any medicines you take or conditions you have. Panchakarma courses usually run over several days, so allow time in your itinerary, and confirm fees, timings and what is included before you commit, since we do not publish prices or hours we could not verify.
