How to Choose a Bachelor College in Kathmandu
The right college depends on the degree you want, the university that will award it, and how you plan to study. Use these checks before applying:
- Match the degree to the awarding university. Tribhuvan University-affiliated colleges follow TU curricula and exams; Pokhara University-affiliated Apex College follows Pokhara University; Islington, Softwarica, The British College, Herald and Texas award degrees from their foreign partner universities.
- Check the entrance exam. Admission to Tribhuvan University management programs such as BBA and BBM runs through the CMAT, and BSc CSIT and BIT admission runs through the IOST entrance exam. Foreign-affiliated colleges set their own admission tests and interviews.
- Visit the campus. Check labs, libraries and classrooms in person, and talk to current students about teaching quality and support services before committing.
- Confirm fees and scholarships directly. Fees change from year to year and were not verified for this guide — ask each college for its current fee structure and any scholarship it offers.
- Check accreditation. St. Xavier's College was accredited by the University Grants Commission in 2024 and NCCS College in 2022; ask other colleges about their current accreditation status.
