Kathmandu is home to Nepal's oldest nursing schools and its busiest teaching hospitals. A BSc Nursing or Bachelor in Nursing Science degree from the city opens doors to clinical work in Nepal and abroad, and this guide ranks the 15 best nursing colleges in Kathmandu for those degree programmes.
What Is BSc Nursing?
BSc Nursing is a four-year undergraduate degree for students who have completed +2 Science. Bachelor in Nursing Science, often shortened to BNS or BN, is a bachelor's degree designed for nurses who already hold a PCL Nursing qualification. Both are university degrees, and graduates register with the Nepal Nursing Council to practise as nurses in Nepal. This guide covers degree programmes only. PCL Nursing, the diploma-level programme run under CTEVT, is a separate path and is not ranked here.
How to Choose a Nursing College in Kathmandu
Start with the university the college is affiliated with. In Kathmandu, nursing degrees run under Tribhuvan University's Institute of Medicine, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University and Purbanchal University. Then look at the teaching hospital where you will do clinical practice, the range of programmes on offer and the college's history. We do not list fees or seat numbers here, because they change every admission cycle; confirm them with the college before applying.

Editorial Note
This ranking is based on each college's official programme pages, its university affiliation, its history and its clinical training setup. We also considered SANN Institute of Nursing, Sushma Koirala Memorial Nursing Campus and Kathmandu Model Hospital School of Nursing, but left them out because we could not verify a BSc Nursing programme for them from an official college or university source. NAMS College, a private college at Old Baneshwor, is a separate institution from the government National Academy of Medical Sciences at Bir Hospital, and the two should not be confused.
