Kathmandu is the main place in Nepal to plan study abroad. Most of the country's large education consultancies have offices in Putalisadak, New Baneshwor, Dillibazar and nearby areas, so students can compare counselling, test preparation, university applications and visa support in person before they choose. This guide lists 15 consultancies with a Kathmandu office, in editorial rank order, with only the services and destinations each consultancy lists on its own official site.
This is an editorial guide, not an official ranking. No consultancy paid to be included, and the order reflects the breadth of the services and destinations listed on each consultancy's official site, its Kathmandu presence, and any accreditation it states on its own site. Fees, test dates, intakes and visa outcomes change, so confirm every detail with the consultancy directly before you apply or pay anything.
How to choose a consultancy in Kathmandu
Visit the office, ask which universities and courses the consultancy works with for your destination, and ask for the full service in writing before you pay. Check whether test preparation is included or separate, who handles the visa file, and what happens if an application is refused. A good consultancy will explain the process, give you time to decide, and will not promise a visa or a scholarship it cannot guarantee. Keep copies of every document you submit and every receipt you receive.

What to ask before you sign up
- Which universities and courses are covered for your destination, and is the consultancy an official representative for them?
- What is included in the fee, what is charged separately, and what is refundable if you withdraw?
- Who prepares and files the visa application, and how will you be kept informed?
- What test score do you need for your course, and is test preparation included?
- What documents do you need to provide, and what is the timeline for each step?
If a consultancy cannot answer these questions in writing, or pressures you to pay on the spot, get a second opinion from another office on this list.
