The Dwarika's Hotel
The Dwarika's Hotel in Battisputali, Kathmandu, was born out of one man’s vision — Dwarika Das Shrestha — who in 1952 began rescuing intricately carved wooden columns and windows from demolished historic palaces and courtyards across the Kathmandu Valley.
Today, the hotel houses the largest private collection of 13th to 18th-century Newari woodwork in the world. Each guest room and courtyard is a living tribute to traditional Newar brickwork and terracotta art.
